WhiteWave Foods Company (WWFC) wanted to know its corporate GHG emissions in an effort to highlight on-going mitigation strategies and plan for future initiatives. In addition, WWFC plans to use the GHG inventory for participation in voluntary programs.

Clear Carbon Consulting along with our business partner, Natural Logic, inventoried all corporate GHG emissions, including methane and nitrous oxide emissions from enteric fermentation and animal waste. Clear Carbon Consulting staff created a GHG database to store all corporate electricity, fuel, refrigeration, fleet, and waste data to track and quantify the company’s GHG emissions.

 Collected raw data for purchased electricity and fuel use, and created the first comprehensive electronic      corporate record of energy use.
 Created an accurate and detailed inventory for reporting to the EPA’s Climate Leaders program.
 Established location-specific baseline from which to track future emissions and identify mitigation options.
 Created insight into the potential magnitude of supply chain emissions.

 Results were summarized in multiple graphics to show the breakout of emissions sources by both emissions      type and location
 Clear Carbon Consulting utilized a number of different GHG quantification methodologies to calculate GHG      emissions from a variety of direct and indirect sources.
