Business Objective:

The Fox Broadcasting Company wanted to accurately measure the carbon footprint of the 59th Primetime Emmy Awards and find the best “greening” options to minimize the footprint of the event.
Solution:
Clear Carbon Consulting created a complete template to collect all required data to calculate a complete and accurate carbon footprint for the 59th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards. Clear Carbon Consulting also identified suitable vendors to provide “green” solutions to the event, including thin-film solar technology used above the 100% recycled material red carpet.
Project Results:

Received 100% response rate from suppliers and vendors supporting the event to collect data and reveal the impacts of carbon reduction efforts.

Quantified significant carbon reduction initiatives including energy efficiency, green energy procurement, solar panels, and bio-diesel trucks and generators.

Provided recommendations for a renewable energy vendor (UniSolar) to provide one of the first on-site renewable energy projects at a major entertainment event.
Project Details:

The footprint analysis revealed the emissions by source and also showed the compounding impacts of reduction initiatives.

A number of different GHG quantification methodologies were used to calculate GHG emissions from a variety of direct and indirect sources.
